Ubisoft made two important announcements today. The first is that the company’s subscription service, Ubisoft +, will be available on Xbox consoles in the future. While that’s big news in itself, Ubisoft has revealed that too Rainbow Six extraction is coming to Xbox Game Pass, which is another big win for Microsoft’s own subscription service. Ubisoft apparently has game subscriptions in mind today.
At the moment we don’t know much about the plan to bring Ubisoft + to Xbox consoles. Ubisoft was pretty vague about his plans, simply saying that the service would appear on Xbox “in the future”. Because of this, we don’t know if Ubisoft + will be available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, or only on the latter platforms. However, it is reasonable to assume that it will be both, as many of the games available through Ubisoft + were developed for the Xbox One.
Ubisoft + was revealed as UPlay + at E3 2019 and was initially released on PC later that year. So far, Ubisoft + has been limited to PC, but launched on Stadia and Amazon Luna in 2020. Ubisoft + costs $ 14.99 per month and gives you access to much of the Ubisoft library, including new games, premium editions and DLC.
Ubisoft + isn’t the first subscription service to make its way onto Xbox consoles. Of course we have Xbox Game Pass, but Xbox consoles also host EA Play, which is available through both Xbox Game Pass and as a standalone subscription. There was no indication today that Ubisoft + would also be available through Xbox Game Pass, and since it costs $ 14.99 a month, we probably shouldn’t expect it to be adopted into the service of Microsoft.
Speaking of Xbox Game Pass, Ubisoft also announced today that Rainbow Six extraction will be a day one release for the service. Rainbow Six extraction is an upcoming 18-operator multiplayer PvE game from previous versions Rainbow Six Title. You can see some of the operators that are in. will be available Rainbow Six extraction in the video above.
Rainbow Six extraction will join the popular Rainbow Six Siege on the Xbox Game Pass currently available to console subscribers. Ubisoft also announced when today extraction goes live on January 20th on Xbox Game Pass, Rainbow Six Siege will also join the PC version and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
network Rainbow Six extraction as a day-one release is likely a big win for Microsoft due to the popularity of the franchise, but it could also be a big deal for Ubisoft. The response to Rainbow Six extraction was pretty cool, so by launching it on Xbox Game Pass on day one, Ubisoft could very well attract a much larger audience than it would with a traditional release.
One question that remains with us after today’s news is whether Ubisoft + will be coming to PlayStation 5 and PS4 in the future. While Ubisoft didn’t announce any plans today, it seems like a breeze for Ubisoft to bring the service to Xbox anyway. We’ll see what Ubisoft announces in the future, but for now, you’re looking for that Rainbow Six extraction to land on Xbox Game Pass on January 20th.
