Since the debut of the first Echo, Amazon has made various changes to the product range over the years, adding new designs and new variations to its Echo speakers. This includes creating smaller versions like the Echo Dot through to Echo speakers that come with a built-in display.
Amazon now appears to be working on yet another iteration of its Echo devices, according to a report from Bloomberg, except that this version could be the company’s biggest effort to date. The report claims that this Echo device will have a 15-inch display and will also be wall-mounted.
This suggests that Amazon could try to turn this Echo device into a smart home center where users could potentially use it to replace traditional light switches and control everything via the display. It could also serve as a display for streaming video from surveillance cameras or smart doorbell systems like Ring, which is also owned by Amazon.
It sounds pretty exciting, although we’re still not sure how much such a device could cost. Amazon is slated to host an event on September 28th, so we should have more details on this device (and others) by then.
