Why is the mouse lagging in Battlefront 2?
A sluggish or stuttering mouse can completely spoil your Battlefront 2 experience on Windows. There are a handful of reasons that can lead to this. But among them, the main culprits are:
- Something is wrong with the USB hub you are using to connect the mouse to the computer.
- The problem can be caused by a conflict between Battlefront 2 and the third-party software installed on your computer.
- The issue can also occur when the Mouse Trails feature is enabled.
No matter what is causing the problem, you can fix a lagging mouse quickly by following the fixes below.
1. Eliminate all hardware problems
First, make sure your mouse isn’t to blame. Sometimes a mouse may not work properly when connected to your computer through a USB hub. Plug the mouse directly into a different USB port on your computer and see if that resolves the issue.
If the problem persists, connect your external mouse to another computer and see if you still experience lag when accessing applications. A low battery level of a wireless mouse can also be behind this problem.
2. Check for a third-party software conflict
Sometimes a third-party app installed on your computer can cause the mouse to malfunction. You can narrow down the conflicting software by performing a clean boot. If you’re not sure how to do this, check out how to perform a clean boot on Windows 11.
In the “Clean Boot” state, Windows only starts with the essential drivers and programs. Boot the system into a clean boot and play Battlefront 2 to check if the mouse lag persists.
Once you determine that the problem is caused by third-party software, identify and uninstall the program to get rid of the problem. First, disable third-party startup apps on your computer as described in Disable startup apps in Windows. This includes customization tools, mods, and gaming overlays.
Disable all programs one at a time to narrow down the problematic app, and then uninstall them to see if that helps you fix Battlefront 2 mouse lag issue.
3. Disable the Mouse Trails feature.
The mouse pointer trail is an accessibility feature that allows you to quickly track the cursor as you move it on your computer screen. However, it adds a glitchy effect that makes you feel like the cursor is stuttering.
The solution in this case is to disable the pointer trail feature. Here’s how:
- Open the settings menu by pressing victory + me hot keys.
- Select the Accessibility option on the left.
- Under the vision section, select the mouse pointer and touch.
- Choose Mouse under Related settings.
- Choose Additional mouse settings.
- Switch to pointer options Tab.
- In which sight range section, disable the Show pointer tracks Crate.
- click Apply and then OK to save the changes.
4. Disable mouse acceleration in Windows
The mouse acceleration function helps to make the inputs smoother. More specifically, this feature controls how fast the mouse moves across the screen.
You can disable this feature to fix Battlefront 2 mouse lag issue. That’s how it’s done:
- Open the Run dialog box (see Open Run), type main.kpl and click OK. It opens the mouse properties.
- Switch to pointer options Tab.
- In which movement section, disable the Extend pointer precision.
- Click Apply > OK.
That’s it. Restart your computer and check if the problem persists. If so, try the next solution on the list.
5 . Disable overlays
With an overlay, you can usually quickly record gameplay and chat with your friends. But sometimes it can also be the reason why the mouse lags in Battlefront 2.
It’s very likely that AMD Radeon or Nvidia GeForce Experience overlay feature is enabled on your computer if you have one of their graphics cards.
Also check the game launcher you use to play Battlefront 2. For example, if you installed the game through Origin, make sure the overlay is disabled.
Start the game and check for the problem. If you’re still experiencing mouse lag, you can re-enable the overlays, but there’s a chance that this will fix the problem.
6. Disable Windows transparency effect
A faulty graphics driver can disrupt your computer’s visual effects function and cause mouse lag in Battlefront 2. To fix this you need to disable the transparency effect in the settings menu. That’s how it’s done:
- Open the Settings menu (see How to open Settings) and select the Accessibility option.
- Choose Visual effects.
- Disable the switch next to transparency effects.
Close the settings menu, launch the game and check for the problem.
7. Download the latest graphics driver update
If disabling the transparency effect didn’t help, try downloading the latest graphics driver update to your computer. Newer versions of the driver are often the best way to fix bugs or problems in a computer.
Follow the instructions below to download the latest graphics driver updates on Windows:
- Press the Victory + X Hotkeys to open the power menu.
- Choose device manager from the menu list.
- Expand that display adapter option by double-clicking it.
- Right-click on the installed graphics driver and update drivers from the context menu.
- In the window that opens, click the Search for drivers automatically Possibility.
Windows will now search for available driver updates and download them.
8. Reinstall Battlefront 2
Are you still facing the problem? If so, then all you have to do is reinstall Battlefront 2.
First, uninstall Battlefront 2. If your copy of Battlefront 2 came from an online game library (like Steam), you usually need to uninstall it through the library client. If not, follow the steps on how to uninstall apps in Winfows 11 to get rid of them. If it’s gone, reinstall the game and test for the problem.
