Here in Minnesota where many of the game informant Staff based, the weather is starting to warm up. No more cold days and even colder nights and above all no more snow! We’ve had a full week at work, with Star Wars Day on Tuesday, Jay Guisao reviewing Switch Sports (read it here) and the biggest news of the week: Square Enix is selling most of its Westerns studio to the ever-growing Embracer group. After this turbulent week, we’re ready to close our laptops and enjoy the sunshine and warm temperatures, or sneak into a dark, cool cinema and see what horrors lurk in the Marvel Multiverse.
This is what the GI employees have planned for the coming weekend:
Alex Stadnik – I was so ready to come in hot and talk all this mess about not playing games this weekend because Minneapolis is so beautiful. But then my buddy Joe “King” Iverson got me into this little game called Rogue Legacy 2. I’ve dedicated my nights to it ever since and plan to continue this trend well into the wee hours of the weekend. Outside of that, I’ll probably find one dr Strange Showtime, and I’m going to celebrate my mom and grandma on Sunday. Hot Take: Mamas are pretty awesome.
Wesley LeBlanc I’ve already got a pretty busy weekend planned, and unfortunately not much of it will consist of games. If I get a chance to kick back with a controller, I’ll probably keep banging my way through GTAV. I just recently completed the Trevor Torture mission and wow, uhhh what the heck. That was a lottttttt ha. My nephew who just started playing video games last year has a flag football game tonight and I’m going to surprise him with Luigi’s Mansion 3 because he’s dying to play it, will so neat. That being said, I’m hoping to get to the theaters to see it Multiverse of Madness! I’m getting scared that someone will spoil it for me so I’m hoping to see it as soon as possible! I hope you have a nice weekend!
John Carson- I must have brought the west coast weather from LA because it’s beautiful outside in Minnesota this weekend! I’ll be spending my time this weekend visiting a brewery to cast some spells with my Magic Commander party, getting my hands on Xenoblade Chronicles again, and spending time with my family on Mother’s Day Sunday. Oh and I’ll try to see it dr Strange Sometime!
Jill Grodt – I still have a lot of things to play in my backlog, but I’ll probably dive back into Loot River for a few more loops. I’m sure it will only be a short session. I absolutely will not look up and realize that hours have passed. nope That never happens.
Brian Shea- This weekend I will be quarantined in close contact after a COVID exposure so I should have plenty of playtime. I will continue my MLB The Show 22 streak plus my playthrough of Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I was in the middle of my Star Wars iteration, so I’m kind of in the mood to finally boot up Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Alex Van Aken – This weekend I will start the arduous journey to my new apartment. However, it’s only three blocks away and I have the pleasure of living down the hall from Alex Stadnik. However, I have almost a month to move, so I plan to spend my free moments playing games! I’m having a blast playing the Overwatch 2 Technical Alpha and enjoying all the new character changes, maps, etc. Sojourn, the latest DPS hero, is having a blast. I especially love her ability to switch from power sliding to high jumping. Finally, I plan to keep experimenting with Blender and Unity 3D.
Mark Steward – Tonight I’m opening a portal to my local theater to check it out Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Once I come off the climax of what is sure to be mind-blowing superhero hype, the Elden Ring will likely continue to completely usurp my weekend game plans. I’ve been at it 120 hours and continue to make meaningful new discoveries that require my undivided attention. If I can stray away from the Lands Between long enough, I’d love to try a few more runs of Loot River and Rogue Legacy 2.
What kind of shenanigans are you doing this weekend? Squeezing into a packed theater to see the new Marvel flick? Will you celebrate Mother’s Day? If you have time this weekend, how much time will you be spending outside with the great weather? Let us know your plans in the comments below!
