Google is rolling out a new Android 13 update that fixes 46 bugs and performance issues for Pixel 7. The fixes range from fixing minor bugs to larger, system-wide updates that do things like optimize battery life and overall performance, making this one of the biggest major Pixel 7 updates to date. While the update, Android 13 QPR2, offers many fixes specific to the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, it also cleans up performance for the entire Pixel 6 lineup.
The update contains many small fixes. However, the larger ones seem to noticeably improve the user experience for all Pixel 7 owners in just about every way.
General charging and battery improvements have been made aimed at reducing charge times and increasing battery life between charges – things that Pixel fans have been asking for due to the sub-par battery life that Pixels are known for. Similar general performance improvements have been made across the board to help with app crashes and overall system stability.
The Pixel 7’s camera software is also getting a solid update to allow for better and more accurate color capture on the front camera, alongside an overall performance boost. This means that users will take better quality selfies after the update and will be much less likely to encounter camera performance issues.
Although Wi-Fi 6E is the latest version of the technology, it has caused connectivity issues on many of the latest flagship smartphones. Luckily, Android 13 QPR2 also improves connection stability on select routers that were causing problems for users.
Android 13 QPR2 should hopefully satisfy Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro owners who have encountered performance issues since the phone line was launched. Obviously there are always more ways to improve smartphones and this update takes some solid steps to improve the overall Pixel experience. Since the update contains over 40 fixes, some changes are quite small, but they can certainly add up.
If you’re looking for the full list of changes that came with Android 13 QPR2, you can find it in the Google support blog. The update is officially fully rolled out, so go into your settings and authorize the update if you haven’t already.
